Where there is loss there is grief. We lose a job, a friend, a pet, a home, our youth, an ability, our loved one, something or someone that has always been there. Sometimes loss can be small and we feel disappointed, sad, and able to move through our emotions with relative ease. At other times it is not so easy. This is when Grief Counselling can support your journey through the tangled and confusing emotions and thoughts, or the numbness you may feel.

Grieving allows us to heal, to remember with love rather than pain.

It is a sorting process.

One by one you let go of things that are gone and you mourn for them.

One by one you take hold of the things that have become a part of who you are and build again.

Leading busy lives within our consumer society that focuses on being youthful, performing and getting ahead, there is little time for the process of grief let alone the acknowledgement of the depth of loss experienced when more complicated circumstances and issues prevail. Grief Counselling and therapy can be a crucial refuge at those times when everyone has gone back to their everyday lives and you feel so alone.
Urja is an experienced grief and loss counsellor, and therapist, who has sat with countless clients, supporting them through the times of confusion and pain after a family member or friend has died either through sickness, accident, old age or suicide.

“In silence I thanked her for everything she had done for me; I spoke the words of affection I would never have dared voice if she could hear me. I kissed her beautiful hands, her reptilian eyelids, her noble forehead, and asked forgiveness for the tantrums I threw as a child, for having come too late to say good-bye, for the dry lizard I’d spit out in a false attack of coughing, and other heavy handed jokes she’d had to put up with…”  from ‘Portrait in Sepia’  by Isabel Allende
